MADART Alaskan Series
It's only natural for me to paint an entires series of paintings devoted to Alaska.  This is
where I grew up!  I also have a cabin where I spend my summer's soaking up the wondrous
beauty around me and being continually inspired.

As a child I lived in a tiny little fishing village called Meyers Chuck, 40 miles North of
Ketchikan, AK.  Sometimes we were home schooled and other times we would take a small
boat back and forth to the community school every day.  We were constantly on the
water, our house even floated, and surrounded by lush vegetation and abundant wildlife.
My husband and I also now have a summer cabin in Meyers Chuck so we can visit regularly.

I've been thinking about this series for a very long time, but never felt anything I currently
had was sufficient to capture the essence and beauty of Alaska.  But, one day in the
summer of 2009 we were at our cabin in Meyers Chuck and I was looking out the window
at the island across from us where eagles are constantly perched and inspiration struck!  I
grabbed my sketchbook and started sketching and didn't stop until my fingers were so sore
I couldn't straighten them back out!

I hope you will enjoy my new series and for it to remind you of a vacation you've made to
Alaska, living here, or motivate you to make the trip of a lifetime to experience the wild
beauty of Alaska.
